Miniature is one our products developed to extract useful insights from online media. Performing social and online media analytics can be difficult to “Get Right”. Generally speaking Miniature is a faceted search engine that gain insight using AI which delivers deep analytics to
end user. To further improve this service we are looking for talented interns to join and help us in this mission.

Twitter Bot Identification

Bots on Twitter are semi-automated or automated programs that use the normal functions of  witter, such as tweeting, re-tweeting, and posting content. For the most part, the bots are harmless and publicly reveal themselves as bots. However, there is a group of political Twitter accounts, commonly referred to as political propaganda bots, that are different. These are accounts who identify themselves as real humans and whose tweets are politically polarizing. We have seen cases where these accounts are re-tweeting falsified information or advocating for violence or civil unrest.

Fake News Detection

Fake news, defined by the New York Times as “a made-up story with an intention to deceive” , often for a secondary gain, is arguably one of the most serious challenges facing the news industry today. In a December Pew Research poll, 64% of US adults said that “made-up news”  as caused a “great deal of confusion” about the facts of current events. The goal of this project is to explore how artificial intelligence technologies, particularly machine learning and natural language processing, might be leveraged to combat the fake news problem. We believe that these AI technologies hold promise for significantly automating parts of the procedure human fact checkers use today to determine if a story is real or a hoax. 

Sarcasm Detection

Sarcasm is the use of remarks that clearly mean the opposite of what they say, made in order to hurt someone's feelings or to criticize something in a humorous way. Sarcasm detection is a task in Natural Language Processing (NLP) that intends to find sarcasm in a given text automatically. This is challenging area of research since the model needs to understand the underlying meaning which is twisted even for a human.
